From Output-focused to Noise-focused operations: The Noise level

Regulations by the authorities relating to noise emission levels for onshore wind turbines can vary widely from one planned location of a WTG to another. The 4.8-158 onshore turbine can be operated flexibly to comply with local regulations. The 4.8 MW onshore wind turbine system also offers noise focused operation with emissions of 100 to 104 dB(A). Values below 100 dB(A) can also be achieved (project-specific).

The electrical system: The most convincing arguments are already part of the package

The entire DFIG – doubly-fed induction generator - electrical system is integrated in the machine head of GE’s 4.8-158 onshore turbine to enable the reduction of line losses. Many of our customers have enjoyed positive experiences with our double-feed asynchronous generator for years. The most significant onshore turbine advantages: greater reliability, lower losses and, of course, the fulfillment of grid requirements.

The service solutions: Customized service for maximum energy production

Serviceability is at the forefront of the 4.8-158 wind turbine design. The machine head is designed to minimize the need for a large crane. The gearbox is a modular construction to enable up-tower repair and the transformer can be lowered without an external crane, plus the 4.8 MW turbine includes a highly integrated, up-tower electrical system to ease troubleshooting. Finally, the nacelle has ample work areas for service personnel to enable faster return to service.
