GE's Electrical Subsea Hub
Exporting the electricity generated by tidal turbines subsea to the onshore substation can be a significant investment and technological challenge. The solution is an underwater electric power transformation and interconnection system, that can lower installation and maintenance costs.
GE's low cost, retrievable subsea hub solution avoids the need to run multiple cables to shore. It allows for a reduced environmental footprint and cable costs, to better enable the development of commercial tidal farms.
The electrical subsea hub concept is buoyant, using our proven configuration, and allows for rapid installation using small vessels. It is adaptable to fit your equipment and can provide connection for 4 to 16 turbines for export voltages up to 33 kV.
